Meet Dr Susan Gibbs
Associate Dentist
Dr Susan decided to pursue a career in dentistry, as she was keen to investigate and treat all areas of sleep disordered breathing, including science-based solutions for sleep apnoea and snoring.
A Broad Dental Education
To prepare for her dental career, Dr Susan earned a BDS from the University of Queensland with Honours in 1988. She always ensures her knowledge is evolving by regularly taking continuing education courses. These have had a special focus on the different science-based solutions for sleep apnoea.
Dr Susan also spent time studying in the United States in areas of head and neck pain, neuromuscular dentistry, and sleep dentistry.
I find this area of dentistry rewarding, but also have a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of general dentistry.”
Returning to Her Roots
Dr Susan spent her high school years in Toowoomba. After graduating, she served as a Dental Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force and served at RAAF base Richmond and JSHC Canberra. During this time, she gained knowledge of aviation medicine and field dental operations.
“I was then based in Brisbane from 1995 in private practice and worked at the same practice till moving back to Toowoomba in 2021 and becoming part of the Seven Springs Dental team.”
Outside the Practice
When she’s not at the practice, Dr Susan enjoys tinkering in her creative zone-the sewing room. This keen seamstress also loves many areas of creative work, including handbag making, jewellery construction, beading, and wool felting. When she’s not sewing, she enjoys working in the garden.
